Members images - how to use Flickr

The Flickr site stores and displays photographs and images. It is an immense resource with over 300 million photographs that can be searched by subject, e.g. places, flower names, themes etc. Anyone can have a free site limited to 200 images. The pictures are usually copyright.
Images are found by:
  Flickr image search - On image titles and tags (use whatever tags are suitable)
  Email link - An email can include a link to any image, to sets of images or all your images
  Web link -
From a website, including the Farsley website
  Flickr group - The Farsley group page in Flickr

To set up a Flickr account

1. Go to Flickr.com. Select sign up and follow the instructions.
     Alternatively, ask Charles to set one up for you.
2. Choose any screen name. You can change it at any time or keep anonymous.

4. Images must be under 5mB. Sizes from 100kb to 500kb are a reasonable compromise.
5. You can reduce images with photo imaging software.
6. It is best to rename and save the reduced images in a new folder.
7. From the menu choose upload images and mark as public images.
8. When loaded, rename them at the top, add descriptions below and search tags.
9. Create named sets, such as "Watercolours" or "Art Set" to put them in a preferred sequence.
10. You can personalise the location of your images and share that location in emails.
11. Let Charles know whether to link from the club website to all images or to your sets.
12. You can join a group, such as the "Farsley Art Club" group and share images into the pool.

14. When you have finished, please email your flickr name or location and your descriptive wording to the webmaster@farsleyartclub.org.uk

New accounts are reviewed for suitability of images shortly after uploading 6 images. Once classed as "safe", images are available for image search on tag words.
