Mr
Larbalestier based his watercolour demonstration on a full
sketch he made on a daytime visit to Westroyd Park, including
park users in the foreground.
He commenced with yellow for the sunny highlights on the
house, trees and figures. He applied dark colour to the
house walls & roof and a base green to the grass around
the figures and flowerbeds. After the break, he painted
the trees, and the shadow sides of the trees and figures
and the grass in shadow. The demonstration, and talk, finished
with the painting still needing the time-consuming detail.
Mr Larbalestier also displayed his excellent finished paintings
of village scenes
- some reproduced here.
Members found his voluminous sketchbooks of people, groups
and scenes fascinating, a couple of pages reproduced here.
